modernism¶

A cultural and intellectual movement (roughly 17th–20th century) built on reason, science, and progress, assuming that human beings can understand and master the world without need for God or tradition.

Beliefs: - Objective truth is discoverable through reason - Religion is outdated or privatized - Progress is inevitable - Power is often centralized (colonialism, empires)
