Open source learning

200 Teaching

open source learning

I have found over the years that the thing that interests me is not what people learn but how people learn.

Teachers have a monopoly on learning. In software engineering this can be thought of as proprietary software. Where the user does not get to contribute to the source code even if they want to.

I think that teachers should have a large contribution to learning but not a monopoly. What does it mean for learning to be student centred? Does it mean that students have a say in how they learn?

Open sourced learning should be experiential (i.e. learning through doing), have a well thought out roadmap that is co-authored with the learners, should involve peer review as well as instructor review.
