Evergreen Notes¶
Evergreen notes are the most important notes in your personal knowledge management (PKM) system. They can be thought of as plants in a garden of knowledge. Evergreen notes are normally developed as evergreen seedlings before they make their way into the evergreen notes space. They might come from notes you have taken from literature notes but are always planted, pruned, watered and fertilized in the garden of notes.
An evergreen note has the following properties:¶
- it can stand on its own.
- it contains a single idea (it is an atomic note).
- it is a useful note
- it richly connects to other ideas in the garden through upward speculative outlines or downward clarifying notes.
- it has a good note name.
What you will notice is that after you have cultivated your garden for enough time, it becomes its own entity that is larger than yourself and starts to generate ideas on its own.
