Embrace boredom

In his book Deep Work, Cal Newport encourages us to embrace boredom. The argument is that if we constantly want to move to something exciting whenever we hit a low, we train our brain to seek out stimulus when it hits a low. By embracing boredom, we train our brain that it is okay to hit a low, but we can continue to do what we are doing, we do not have to shift to something exciting.

To be able to work hard for consistent lengths of time, we need to be able to avoid the desire to stimulate our mind with something exciting. We need to be able to embrace the "lows" during our working time blocks.
