Be a reflective person

To become a competent, decent, successful, functioning person within society, it is imperative that one is a reflective person. The more we reflect, the more we grow our character, the more inclusive we become, the more empathetic we become, the wiser we become, the more light we shine in the world. If we want to live on purpose, then reflecting should be considered one of the most important activities we can do.

To be a reflective person means to think deeply and carefully about the nature of things, especially if they make you uncomfortable. What we think about will move through the many levels of abstraction, from the very close up perspective of how we conducted our day-to-day interactions with others, to the zoomed out questions about what we want out of life, to even further considerations about the world and our place within it.

Ways to reflect

From experience, there are two pertinent ways to reflect: - reflection through externalization - bringing up our ideas from within ourselves into the world so that we can interact more deeply with those thoughts. - reflection through internalization - listening to/reading the ideas of others to intertwine their ideas with our already complex inner state.

What to reflect on

To be a reflective person one should consider: - Your internal work - the structure of your life - [[The roles we play|the roles you play]] - your prejudices - your Character defects - your aims - Your external work - injustices in the world - the history of the world - expectations placed on you by: - the world - your work - your church - your family - your home - your relationships
